Band link installing trouble

Hello. I'm having trouble with this watch. First of all does this type of pin have a certain name? I messed up with install a pin and it broke, so I want to get a new one if I can.

Sorry about unclear picture, there's a little cut on the top, but it's not screw, just a cut. and as far as I see, it doesn't have a sleeve either.

This might be an unusual one, but I'd like to know if there's a terminology for it.

Also, I was able to come off the pin no problem, but then I can't put it back.
To me, it just need to push it back with pin puncher and hammer. But the thick part didn't fit and I accidentally broke the head after all.

Maybe I just did it for wrong direction. I set the pin from opposite direction of the arrow just like common cotter pins.  I'll check out an other link tomorrow.

welcome to the forum.  " a pin pusher"  that  would be a "pin punch"  they come in sets.   you will find one punch with a diameter less than your pin. or you can make one..   carry on; - good luck. vinn

what you broke i think is called a split pin.

The arrows under the links show the direction to remove the pins.

When removing, the end with the split comes out first when pushing in the direction of the arrow.

Previous answers are spot on, also sometimes known as cotter pins.

Thanks everyone! Although I haven't had time to try yet. I'll write it when I did.

Yes, because it didn't look like one of those cotter pins which are familiar with me, I was wondering if there's other way to set it.

Finally, I had time for it and was able to install them. The thing was, it's not one of those common cotter pins, not flexible. I needed to tighten the tips with plier beforehand.
