Condensation In An Old Watch

Recommended Posts

I have a question for Mark or anybody else that can figure out this dilemma. I have two exact movements. They are a Boluva 11AFAC 17 jewel auto wind. I wore both movents and and as soon as they got condensation from cleaning house they both started running very fast. And I mean like 30 min fast in one hour. Thanks for your help.

It could be water condensing on the hairspring and having the same effect as oil contamination. I would open the backs and get them dried out as soon as possible if that is the case.

Gently blow dry with a hair drier and see if that gets them going correctly. Even if it does, I would recommend having then services to ensure that no other damage has been done and that they continue to keep working.

They are obviously not water resistant, so keep them in a safe place when cleaning in future.
