Gaining Gmt Hand

Hi 

 

The GMT hand on my Hamilton Jazzmaster seems to gain. This morning I set it to GMT - 6 hours ahead of CST - and it is now 8 hours ahead. I'm wondering if it is being pushed by the hour hand or some such thing. 

 

Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

 

Did you moved the hands in the hour setting position and checked they were moving without touching one another? Any recent impact suffered by the watch that could have loosened the GMT hand? Any recent tinkering? Was it working fine before?

 

Just checking the basis.

The hands didn't seem to be touching one another when I set it but I'm just wondering if the angle is slightly askew at some particular point - an intermittent problem is the worst kind to try to fix...

 

It's never had any sudden impacts - it was bought new and is still under warrantee so I think I'll get the jewellery store where I bought it to get their watchmaker to have a look.

 

The only tinkering was me setting the GMT hand...LOL

Very good Dave, I would do the same. I particularly love Hamiltons and the Jazzmaster line is excellent. They shouldn't have that problem new as their quality is on par with the best, IMHO.
