Hi All- I have a 60s Jaeger LeCoultre mechanical Mantle clock.

It is of sentimental value.

The Dial is a kind of linen look and has become tarnished around 8-9 oclock. Also, the 8 oclock hour marker is missing.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to approach restoring the dial particularly. I have rebuild omega watch movements and I'm not too intimidated by servicing the movement. But the watermark  or tarnish on the dial intimidates me.

The first thing you need to do is have a good look at the dial, you can tell just by looking at it in its case. From experience I don't think there is much you can do. I see the bottom of the case has water damage. What happened?

Restoring dials is difficult and can go, horribly wrong as I can testify. If there is an area that is not viable when in the case experiment there.
