Hi All, my name is Jamie. My family lives in Massachusetts.

My son works for a junk removal company and found this Gubelin watch in a pile of junk that was being tossed. It caught his eye and he decided to bring it home. We know nothing about the watch or the maker. I have a few questions I was hoping someone may be able to answer.

How do I open the clock to look for markings/serial number or manufacture date?

How do I find out more information on this particular watch as well as the value?

Is it worth getting it fixed so the clock is working?

I apologize if this is not the correct forum for my questions and if not, is there anyone who can point me in the right direction whether it’s a website or a location? I am located in Massachusetts.

Hello Jamie and welcome to the WRT forum.

Heres a bit of Gubelin's history, the watchmaker.

https://www.gubelin.com/cms/en/the-house/history/

They made a few brands .  Damas sold well in Asia, same watch with different brand name.

The case back should crack open with knife blade inserted into the seam between two case halves.

This seems like a gold plated case and chain.

Depending on whats left of the inside and extent of possible damage, can be worth having it repaired.

Does it tic when shaken?

Rgds
