Hi everyone, this is kind of a vague inquiry, but I have serviced a few different Omega 1040 movements now, and found each time that I could not get the automatic winding to work efficiently. With each watch, I can't get more then 24 hours power reserve after a day on the winder.

I replaced the mainsprings and used breaking grease on the barrels, checked the rotor for wobble and other parts on the auto wind mechanism for wear, used lubeta on the bearings, etc. but I still cannot get a good power reserve. I am thinking now that I am not oiling something correctly or am missing something during service. Hoping someone would have some general advice if they have worked on these (fiddly) movements previously or also found the auto winding problematic. Again, I know it's a vague question to ask, but still hoping for some pointers. Thanks!

It's a touchy system. I use 9020 on the little satellites, and on the arbor that carries them where the other wheel sits. Hp-1000 closer to the rotor and for the rotor. Sometimes they still seem "sticky"- especially when hand winding. Then I reclean thoroughly and go with 9020 everywhere. I've suspected the plastic internal gear in the barrel bridge but never pinned one down as faulty.

But some work just as smooth as silk, so they are capable of that. Not my favorite auto system.

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for the tips Nickel. I used your advice and reoiled with thinner oil and that helped. Replacing the chronograph bridge seems to have helped even more. I suspect the non jewelled bushing for the satellite was worn.
