Hello all, I'm Ril, 29, and an enginerd.

I've always had a fascination with things mechanical and after watching countless youtube videos about repair, I jumped into the hobby to get myself away from watching a screen 10h a day. I started out with some pocket watches from second had shops, and currently almost finished restoring a watch from my great grandmother. Brought some budget tools, I got what I paid for and lessons learned. I'd like my next purchase to be a microscope, but coughing up 600 euros for an amscope microscope might be a bit much for time being, even after disregarding my limited space. I do have an old zoom lens from my grandfather which I might try to put together with a rasberry pi camera to create a budget microscope setup. If I'm successful, I'll write up a guide with 3D print files for those interested.
