A Little Fun

I thought I might have had a few more comments on this one still never mind. Thanks to those for having a go.

The whole thing really is a bodge up.

No winding holes to wind up the movement.

The top handle is way too small and a different colour to the rest of the brass? fittings.

J Boot Sutton doesn't even belong to the dial, it's been added and is crooked.

Both hands are wrong they would be pierced and ornate not spade which look cheap and nasty and to be honest stick out like a sore thumb. There's no pin or nut to hold them on.

No door to open to set the hands. The whole front window comes off by a latch on each side of the case which is very odd. I think part of this case has been rebuilt it looks wrong.

The spandrels are odd.

I found this on ebay. The seller pointed out many faults so they aren't trying to deceive potential buyers. I can't think why anyone one would want to buy it. The movement in this thing is French with a platform cylinder escapement with hand setting from the back and more than likely is of 8days duration. The seller says its Georgian? To me it's just not good enough to be Georgian.

The original movement would be an English Fusee timepiece or strike with pendulum. That's if this case was built in the Georgian period, which I don't think so.

To those that got things right give yourselves a pat on the back and thanks for taking part.
