I picked up this Jacot tool and it was delivered today. No markings except on the plate that says (in french) verified and guaranteed tool. There is an O with a spade with a P inside.mark Anyone have any idea if this is a makers mark and who the maker is? Also should I clean up the brass and what should I use? One lantern has a chipped edge and the 11 through 15 are gone. Otherwise in working order. Have the key card retractable cord for use as the bow. Now I just need a burnished and I have some wheels I can practice on. Already  "polishing" pivots practicing technique with pegwood until the burnisher DSCN57102.thumb.JPG.cfceae546a82dcd01064a5517604c91c.JPG20240202_1835492.thumb.jpg.0113f71389f82dee8fa57e3f24b6a68c.jpgDSCN57112.thumb.JPG.80edfcd2a823d89f0aab40104184d7f1.JPG20240202_1836012.thumb.jpg.b727a8be19016272a02be7c5e8466e5b.jpg20240202_1854202.thumb.jpg.2d8f6dfccc30e03539b35f750632ed34.jpgcomes.

Thank you! With the French inscription on the plate and at least 1 other version (without the plate) on youtube that identified their example as "French made" that was identical to this one, seems possibly could have been made for the English or American markets?DSCN57113.JPG.b1fee6237addcea7895714df29885cff.JPG

Got another one today! It took 10 weeks, but finally arrived. Fairly complete but I added the pivot guage. The burnisher and bow came with the tool. The case is a bit rough and the tool pretty dirty, but trying to decide how much I want to restore.20240415_2134122.thumb.jpg.99734dac8be602b9530a7c86b8396cbe.jpg

A little cleaned up, don't think I will polish the brass. Nice caramel color I think. Looks like the inscription says:

The lanterns were a little tweeked but able to gently flatten out with no breaks. The 6 and 7 pivot beds are broken but the rest of the beds are intact. Box and velvet a bit rough but still functional. Overall nice and just a bit larger than the one above. Why I need 2 I haven't figured out yet...
