Benrus Electronic Salesman Sample - Can it be made to run?

Recommended Posts

I won a salesman sample watch on ebay last week.  Just under $20 with shipping.  It arrived today and I have taken it apart to see if there is anyway for me to add in a dynotron movement to have it be a function watch.

at this point its is a "maybe".  If not I should at least be able to use some of the parts for other projects.  Will post of progress.

I have three of the divers like this so why not swap the dial.   Yes, No?

salesman sample

salesman samples can be quite interesting.. They can look very realistic and of course there are missing a key element.. I managed to pick up once a few Seiko sample cases  which are nice because some of it basically discontinued. Although in the case of Seiko and I don't see it on yours they actually stamped the word sample on the case back  and still had the paper sticker.. Here is doesn't look like it has that stamping.

You should build a find another movement in case it up  about do I place for you might have an issue but I don't think so is if there was a casing ring of some type.

Ah yes, one of the "8:18" Benrus/Belforte/Sovereign samples. They are a mixed bag as far as salvageability, depending on the movement blank block used. The case is generally fine, and sometimes the dial and/or hands are functional. Other times the dial feet are cut off or the hands  are tightly adhered to a center pin. I bought a Benrus Electronic sample with the elusive military-style dial and found I had to use dial dots for the first iteration of its resurrection (maybe I'll try to fit new feet some day). Based on the shadow around your dial, maybe the feet are intact and it'll be a great piece to swap in?
