Got the watch as part of a small bag of watches in exchange for some clock repair.  Nothing special...a learning watch.

As you can see I discovered that the center wheel <correction: sweep second wheel> bearing was wallowed out (in Texas, we say "wallered" but I am trying to be international) .

Since I had another Seiko of similar vintage that was never going to be restored, I decided to see about replacing the metal bearing with a jeweled one.

It was surprisingly easy.

This looks fun.  Was the jewel from another area, that happened to be the correct size, in the donor?  Or, a different caliber that had that pivot jeweled?

I have barrel arbor jewels for a 6309 but too chicken to try it.  A simple swap may boost my confidence enough to give it a shot.
