Certina DS-3 quick date change not working

I recently serviced a nice Certina 919-1 which turned out great. The quick date change doesn’t work however. As I turn the crown in the second position, the big yoke that the quick date mechanism sits on just glides up and disconnects from the keyless works and therefore doesn’t turn the brass part that changes the date. The pictures below show how the big yoke just moves out of the way and makes the gears slip. It just moves a fraction of a millimeter so it’s even hard to see on the photos.

 

any help would be greatly appreciated(:
