I want to get my 6497 movement into wearable movement, but I'm getting lost with all the sizes out there. My movement is 36mm. How do I know if a certain dial will fit that diameter? Will a 39mm dial work with my 36mm movement? Then comes the case... the 44mm cases I find can only take a 34-35mm.

What I really need is: how to I determine the size dial and case I can use with a specifically-sized movement? Also, where do you purchase your dials, hands and cases? I'm in the US. UK shipping here is astronomical and I'm batting about .850 with orders from China being lost or cancelled.

Otto Frei has a couple of cases for the 6497, and they give detailed information on suitable dial sizes for each:

The dials are at:

SK Watchparts in Germany has a wider selection available, and they also provide detailed size information:

But shipping to the US is currently very expensive.  They say they only ship DHL premium right now, for 53 Euros (!).

there is a technical document that has specifications. But it's also slightly misleading. The reason why can be misleading as often times watches will have dials larger than the movement and then the case will have some kind of the casing ring the fill up the void of spacing. So often times with these watches you do have bigger physical dials than the movements.

then out of curiosity looking at eBay and finding cases that claim 44 mm and say they will work with the dial of 36 mmand of course searching online comes up with other leads

looking on YouTube reveals lots of videos on casing up your watch. this one is nice because he explains step-by-step and even shows you what is purchasing off of eBay.
