I am working on a Revue 30.1 which has taken some proper mechanical abuse!!!!

My first clue was the crown would not turn! I looked further and found a tooth missing on the winding pinion! Then all the teeth on the clutch wheel that come in to contact with that broken tooth are all gone!!!! I've gone no further in yet as this was scary enough as I've just noticed also that the centre post which the winding pinion rotates around has been excavated through high friction to about a quarter of its width on one side! The very top & bottom of this post are OK but the excavation is to the middle area. My question is, can anything be done about this post?

 Many thanks all.... David

We always love pictures here. It makes it so much easier to solve a problem if we can actually see the problem even if the description is interesting in your case, by the way the missing teeth Are they floating around in the watch? Usually when things break off they unfortunately stay in the case to cause more problems.

Hello, yes. Here are a few pics. I may of got a few technical names wrong in my last post! I am stripping this movement completely down so any small bits will be got rid of. Thanks for your swift reply...

The teeth on the sliding pinion/clutch wheel that come in to contact with the intermediate wheel are all gone(u may be able to see)and one tooth on the intermediate wheel has gone! But the post that intermediate wheel rotates on is where the excavation has taken place!!! Another quick question, if the wheel that the sliding pinion/clutch wheel locks in to is called an intermediate wheel? What is the similar wheel it locks in to next to it called? As when ordering parts I don't want to order what's not wanted.

many thanks....20220122_192448.thumb.jpg.7d3086b3134fa52713b83eca36104bc1.jpg

So new intermediate wheels end up toothless too.

Revue 30.1

As you're new to watch repair I thought I'd point out something that this is not the watch you're working on? One of the problems with watches is figuring out who made the watch because you can't figure that out you can't get parts. The watches will have names on the dial is that who made the watch not necessarily. What about the names on the main plate necessarily the maker either. What about the funny little symbol next to the balance wheel I wonder what that means? Oh in order to see the funny little symbol we need to see the other side of the plate?

Then he had something interesting your watch wasn't made by who you think it was made by. Now the next problem is who major watch? Okay we figured that out but which model number is it and it's not 30.1 so it be nice if you would look for the model number? Typically it's found under the balance wheel.

Then if you don't have access to the watch's like I don't I have to make guesses? So I can Google your watch and find it at the link below which gives me a picture of the front side which gave me the funny little symbol so I can look up and see it was made by a wittnauer watch company. But which model is it? Now there is a way there's something called the bestfit book somebody will tell you how to download those for free. They have what's called a fingerprint system you look at the setting components and match them to your watch which does require you need to know the diameter of your watch.

To give you an example of what I'm looking at the fingerprint system you need to know the size and then made the figure out which movement you have tracked down the parts.

Of course the best would be as if you would find an actual movement number on the plate someplace
