Odd Looking Main Spring in Barrel

Hello all,

I am working on an old Welsboro bumper automatic.  When I took it down to clean and opened the barrel the image below is what I saw.  To me It looks like someone inserted a spacer in the barrel because the mainspring they were using might not be right.  Has anyone seen this before?  I think the movement is an AS 1171.  It is marked AS but nothing else and that is the closest I could find on bidfun-db.

Disregard.  I see that is the Bridle.

It could weel be the bridle  only way to know is to remove the spring and have a look.
