Removing Crown and Spindle

Just joined your wonderful forum and I am a complete newbie regarding watch repairs.

I am hoping to repair one of my wife's old watches, two of the hands have fallen off so the crown and spindle needs to be removed. I have checked a few online guides with the majority of them showing that there is release pin gained by prodding through a small access hole and then the spindle is released.

After looking the watch on this model there is no such hole and I cannot find any thing that resembles a  release pin. Please could someone assist?

The long piece is called stem.

That's one watch completed, the hands are back on and it's now working!
