Hi all, I have a repo, possibly 70,s dutch wall clock with twin weights and horse rider pendulum. It has a german  movement. It keeps time reasonably well but has a tendency to chime 15 times, usually on the hour between 1800 and midnight and there after chimes the correct number of times.

Can anyone help :- Thanks    Ian

That's what is sometimes called tripping. Could be wear, as these movements are made of a soft compound sort of brass and steel. The chime/strike leavers are not engaging correctly.

Hi Ian   sounds like a zandaam dutch clock They come in different sizes, I have three two big ones and one small one, As Old H  says its tripping  ....  The locking for the chime is not locking due to wear or bad adjustment, either way it needs a dose of looking at to correct it, probably needs a strip down clean , oil  and re build and the lockings setting up.
