Unitas 6498 Should I cut off the seconds wheel extended pivot

I'd like to build a watch around a Unitas 6498 that I have. However, the dial that I wish to use hasn't got a hole for the extended pivot of the seconds wheel (I would only use the hour and minute hands).

Now would it be safe to cut off the pivot using my sharp flush cutter, or should I order this "Fourth Wheel, Non Seconds, Unitas 6498.1 220" from Cousins (https://www.cousinsuk.com/search?SearchTerm=UT64981220)?

If the pivot can be safely cut it would save me some money (£6 + shipping), but then I'd also like to fix up the cut on the pivot to make it "look pretty". What tool or tools would I use to fix up the pivot, or would it be overkill and/or perhaps even risky?

The problem with cutting is that you need to cut enough to clean the dial bit not enough that it won't reach the pivot. I would be inclined to get a replacement as you never know the next dial you want may have the hole.

You're probably right, thanks! I'm preparing a Cousins order with quite a few items in it so I guess I might as well include the "non-seconds" wheel. After all, it's not a fortune.
