  1. This Kienzle Markant has a mainspring arbor that is part of the barrel lid (top of pic). The challenge is to wind the spring around the arbor, then insert it into the barrel. Has anyone dealt with this before, and is there a tool to do it? I cannot see how a "standard" mainspring winder will handle this...
  2. I have an Elgin 770 with a pallet fork with a broken upper arbor pivot. I've searched for a replacement pallet fork without success. I'm told I might be able to buy an arbor and replace the broken piece. Assuming I could find such a beast, is it possible to use my staking set to R&R the arbor? No jeweling set available. Thanks, RMD
  3. Removal from the arbor: Boil it out with alum?? Thanks. RMD
  4. Everything is going well on my ETA rebuild, but I got the new mainspring in and this is what it looks like. My Seikos all have a really snug twisting shove required to engage the arbor, then an audible 'click' when the arbor lug engages the mainspring slot. Any suggestions on adjusting the grip - if I do nothing, the watch won't wind....
  5. Attached is a picture of a mainspring from a watch I'm working on. I took the mainspring out of the barrel to clean and lubricate it but when I was about to put in back in, I noticed it was broken at the arbor end. did I do it, I ask myself? Well, id took the picture before I removed it from the barrel and it looks like it was already broken, but I need a more expert eye to confirm it. I'd appreciate your diagnosis. Thanks!
