I came across this oil supplied with the Bergeon 4722 Precision Pocket Oiler and was wondering, what application is this oil for?

I couldn't find references to its application to watches but a lot comes up relating it to engines in cars. I thank you in advance for any information about this oil as to its application in watch maintenance.

Hi, Just had a look at the website for neoval.ch and the full specs for Neoval Rubin G8 are available in pdf format.  Looking at these, this would appear to be marketed as an useable oil or as an aftermarket additive for engines and hydraulics.

It is nominally an SAE15w-20 oil which is also a VG32/46 viscosity.  This oil will have many additives that are not needed for watches but as such are unlikely to be harmful.

My experience says that too many additives can occasionally lead to leaching out, especially in cold/damp conditions (like the sludge you see in the oil filler cap of your car in winter).  My only other concern would be how this oil may migrate over time as it is clearly formulated to get to all the working parts.

Viscosity/base oil wise it would relate to Moebius 8000 or 8300.  With a better base oil (synthetic) then Moebius 9000 quartz would be the choice, with 9010 a little thicker and nearer the VG46 mark.

Personally I whould stick with the Moebius as they do use very good quality base oils and additives and are proven in use (unless Burgeon are on to something that is!!).

Thank you canthus, just trying to figure out if there is any use for it. As you said, I will stick to Moebius...so I'll bite the bullet and break the bank! :)
