Benson-Audemars 9Ct Gold From 1950

I was taken with this Benson watch with an Audemars movement - nothing to do with Audemars-Piguet, by the way - so snapped it up before the auction closed yesterday. Better pics later...

The back can come off the bezel stays firmly on!

You say this watch isn't an early AP?  Seems an unusual name, is there any relationship with AP?

The original Audemars family produced several branches of the family. One branch ended up as Audemars Piguet. Another - Louis - moved to London and became a supplier of watches to firms like Benson, Garrard and Mappin & Wepp.

Me to, I bought this one in 1972!

Similar to the one I had, maybe a different model I can't remember. If I'm not mistaken, the center had a slot that when turned would pop up for playing 45 rpms...or maybe it was a different one. Gosh, it has been at least 30 years! Mine used to be my father's. The right arm was the same, the left one was rather beefier I believe but it was some time ago anyway! Great looking one Geo.
