Newcomer To The Watch Repair World...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, my name is Roger and I recently unintentionally became hooked on watch repair.  Over the last 3 months or so I have been reading books, viewing online information, purchasing tools & used watches and setting up a space at home to work.  It has been a lot of fun and just on the verge of being an obsession.  I have already made use of this forum and really appreciate the insight people with experience have.

I must say that Mark's videos are incredible - the detail and clarity (both in video and his narration) is fantastic.  As a teacher, I know how much works goes into producing high quality instructional videos.

On an amusing note, I was working on my wife's bracelet today when it "took flight".  I heard go up, then I felt it in my hair, followed by it trickling down my back.  Needless to say, after searching for a number of minutes around my work area, I decided to go to the bathroom and "invesigate further".  I'm happy to report I found the spring bar in my underwear.  It is now happily back on the bracelet!

Cheers!

Ha ha.. Nice one.

Maybe we should start a thread on the most weird places lost watch parts have been found :D

Your enthusiasm for watch repairing - I remember when I first started my apprenticeship, I literally found it hard to sleep at night because I was always excited about going into work the next day to continue what my boss had me working on. Although I truly still love my work - I do miss that buzz I used to get :)
