I have a watch that, whenever the hands come together at ie quater to the hour, half past the hour, midday etc they stick and the second hand continues.

How can I strighten them?  Have they been magnitised? or whatever caused them to do this?

It has me puzzeled as to why they are sticking together like this.

Thanks.

Hi David, take the movement out of the case and make sure that the hands are parallel with the watch face and have clearance between one another. You can do this by gently prying the offending hand with a piece of peg wood or a matchstick. Ensure that you place a piece of polythene over the dial to protect it.

+1 for Geo's answer. I had this problem on a pocket watch. I held the hands down at the pivot point by gently pressing laterally with a pair of tweezers - to stop them potentially flying off - and then gently pulled the minute hand straighter with another pair of tweezers. Problem solved.

Thank you both, Geo & WillFly Your suggestions seemed to work, at least now I can tell the time via this watch, it will now go into my collection.

It just dawned on me, this thread might have been about a German motor racing driver that race who raced in the 30's for Auto Union (Audi). :-)
