Beware The Android Strap

Recommended Posts

I purchased an android watch to add to my collection and see what all the fuss was about, so I purchsed a basic S29, loads of features phone, pedomiter etc, so its a nice gadget, however the strap is silicon and being a nice looking steel case I purchesed a stainless stell strap for it.

So i removed the first pin. all ok no problem, removed the second and found that the stap had something attached to the watch directly to the starp some sort of sensor, it then started to peal the inner part of the strap off, so not wanting to damage the thing i tried to put it back, at this point I should add the the air was blue and i was getting a little annoyed with myself for trying to replace a perfectly good strap, anyway, the strap now has its inner band hanging off, I have tried 3 different types of glue to try to stick it back to gether but no luck, I think the sensor is the heart monitor, sleep sensor?

Anyway, just the heads up on the straps on these things, so now I need to find a watch for my new stainless strap.

That sounds like a good band for a diver or medium to large size watch (40mm to 44 mm case and even bigger depending on geomety)...depending on budget, there are Seikos, Citizen, Orient on the budget side of the spectrum. Also, some Swiss watches including some Swiss "military" style ones: Wenger, Victorinox, even Luminox...but I prefer mechanic/automatics so maybe a Hamilton or even an Omega, Tissot...the choice is infinite. Of course the design of the band itself would be a defining factor in your choice...according to your preference. As long as the lug size is 20mm you will be OK in most cases.

NOTE: careful with some watches like Wenger et al, the holes and geometry of the case of some models might not fit all metal watchbands, depending on construction (end link, etc).

Thanks for the advice Bob, I really fancy an Omega, I already have a really reliable Seiko (about 10 years old) it's everyday watch. Although Tissot did some nice watches as I remember.

Some Tissot movements were the same in both Tissot and Omega. In my mind, Tissot was in a similar -- maybe not as involved -- relationship as Tudor with Rolex...I don't know for sure but the link was very real. I still think the dependency between the 2 companies, although not evident nowadays, might still be present considering they are under the Swatch umbrella...

I love Omegas too but the love is shared with Tissots,,,and Hamiltons and...oh well the list goes on and on! :)
