Dear sirs,

I have an Omega pocket watch with movement serial number 4480628 and the balance spring became torn as the picture included below. I've got a similar movement for spare parts but it is from the next series (5023967). Do you think the spring might be compatible?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

gerardo.

I think they are the same, but maybe I am mistaken. Attached is a picture with the movement that has the torn spring on the left and the movement I have found for spares on the right.

Thank you for your help!

Little chance for a direct transfer to work, even if both movements are of exact same caliber.

If lucky you might have a close match, in which case adjusting is done by adding or reducing balance weight.

Otherwise its down to assortment of overcoils and hope to find a close match.

Welcome here and good luck.

I presume a pivot is broken  off the spare balance, in which case restaffing it is easier than hairspring swap.

Just give  the spare movement a 40hrs  bath in Coca-Cola, for successful disassembly.

See, the hairspring is not replaceable part, even with one from movement with the next serial number. The original hairspring is easy to repair, if it is a little bent. Even if it is broken from the stud, it can be attached to it again. That rusty movement has no hairspring any more, it's hairspring is rusty and good for nothing. And, if anything, this hairspring is good only with it's original balance. You need complete balance with hairspring.
