Making A Setting Lever Spring

Recommended Posts

I have a nice Sleda watch from the 1930's. It was working flawlessly, then the setting lever spring broke. It is not a movement maker I am familiar with, the only symbol I see is a diamond with the number 8 inside. Since I think sourcing parts is going to be tricky, I wanted to make my own.

Has anyone here done this? Do you have any tips or suggestions?

I am wondering what material I should use and how I should heat treat it.

Thanks

Rob

I did one some time ago out of an old guitar string . The thinnest one . Don't remember what string? Just measure the diameter and have the old as a template . Bending it with a small plier . Or you can buy a set of 100 setting lever springs from Cousinsuk . Sure one of them will work .
