I recently bought a Howard Miller Westminster chime chain driven grandfather clock. It ran fine up until recently. The clock doesn’t chime on the hour. I hear the click, but nothing happens. Advancing the hand to the next quarter hour or setting the clock to silent then back to chime gets it working. The movement is in good condition, and there are no other problems with any other aspects of the clock.

Is it still under guarantee? Are you sure the lever is in the correct position to chime and strike and not part way for silent. Has it got a shut off for night time from say 11pm to 7 am. Can you get back to me when you have checked this out.
