This is an older 90s ETA quartz movement called 579.005 and I can't figure out how to remove the stem.

I have tried removing both screws along the stem axis and also pushing a pin into that little hole.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks. Need to get the movement out to replace the crystal.

Can you post a close up photo of the hole above the black dot with the crown in and out.

You may need a magnifying glass but at whatever position for the crown something
appears in the hole is the position you need to press and release the stem.

OK, I'll try that next. The watch is at home and I'm at work right now. Also the hole is REALLY small, like I can barely get a staple in there. Thanks for the tips.
