A Pair Of Divers (Cordura Sea Gulls)

I have forgotten about these two. I bought them years ago when I started collecting automatic watches. The one on the top works for a few minutes when shaken, which is a good sign. The one on the bottom must have a keyless issue because the hands move when the stem is in the first position (winding).

Found them today as I was looking through a box full of watch parts and odds and ends. I think these will be my next project. I have the feeling what prevents the top one from working properly is a dirty movement and lack/old oil.

Cousins to my battered old Sicura with a BFG158 movement. Watchguy seems to think highly of this example:

Yours look to be in pretty good shape so I look forward to your account of servicing them (with loads of pictures please) so I can follow suit! :-)

They are in very good shape indeed. I will document the process as much as possible. I read watchguy's post about the service he did on one of these. I just started reading up on the brand and found some interesting bits, like a connection to Breitling. I am not sure if these two have any connection, but will continue researching them.

Aah, the famous Breitling connection!

I read that the principal connection with the Breitling brand is that the boss of Sicura bought the name and later promoted it and retired the Sicura brand.

There are one or two of us on here who have a soft spot for Sicuras but they were apparently a budget watch, albeit with attractive dials and solid cases. (I posted about my trouble removing the case back on my Sicura dive watch)

I recently came by another attractive example, a yachtsman's watch as I understand, but with a solid workaday pin-pallet movement. In this case it's an EB 8371-67 with chronograph functions.

This article has more on the Sicura/Breitling question and the first illustration is of the yachtsman's watch.
