A friend has asked me to get a family heirloom to work again after some years 'rest'. It's a French (Rollin) movement with a Brocot suspension & I've sourced a suitable spring  from HS Walsh (BTW it seems to be a little cheaper buying from their eBay outlet than via their website although delivery might take a bit longer). The clock has no glass over the dial nor does there seem to be any provision for fitting one. Would such a broad timepiece have been provided with a glazed case & if so of what form?

It would have had a glass dome and it might ever have had a plinth for the clock to stand on. Type in google french glass dome for clocks and click on images.
