looking for correct mainspring for Seiko 2906

Recommended Posts

Hello, new to this hobby and need help with sourcing the correct mainspring for a seiko 2906. barrel measurements, 7mm diameter, 1.5mm height, 0.2mm lid, i get an approx mainspring spec of 1.2 width, 0.08 strength and 245mm length. Looking through cousins site, GR2593X seems the closest. is there other recommendations of places i can source a mainspring for this seiko 2906 in canada?

Maybe not directly in Canada,..but got to Emmywatch.

www.emmywatch.com

She has a database that shows any of her linked "partners" for parts availability. Many of them are from Ebay. I've found a lot of parts I've needed this way.

Jules Borel in the US also lists mainsprings for that caliber.

Another option is a scrap movement - the 2906 is a very common type on ebay.

I've had a few batches of Seiko movements from this seller in Holland - they are presently listing a batch of six incomplete 2906's for around 16 euros, or three complete looking ones for a similar price.

(Quite a few of the apparently complete ones I've had came with visibly bent balances.. A good excuse to add truing pliers to my gear!).
