Hi! I serviced this nice Cyma 488-2 yesterday

The issue I am having is that the watch is getting delayed 10 minutes after one hour of setting the time. My timegrapher doesn't detect any performance variation whatsoever. The second hand moves normally. Setting the time is not very soft (it is normal). I move the hands forward and backward looking for any problem but nothing.

The calendar setting is ok although I feel that the hands are kind of a little "heavy" once I am near 10:00 pm.

Any ideas to help me getting this fixed?

Thanks in advance,
Fernando

Hi John, no, I don’t because the out of sync dots on the graph are caused by me as I moved the watch for 2 position changes. In other words I did not turn off the machine between the 3 shots you see on the collage posted

I cleaned and oiled again the calendar works, replaced the washer as it was small and in bad shape, ensure that the seconds hand is not slightly touching the minute hand as before and I installed a crystal with more height.

This is my second day wearing the watch with no delay or problem. Case closed (I hope :))

Regards,

Fernando

    • I've got a similar one, but never had to use it yet. I would try a couple of M4 (or whichever) washers under each blade, and possibly longer countersunk machine screws, either hex or torx drive so the blades can be really solidly locked down. It does not appear there can be much depth of thread in the blocks above the slide shafts, so matching the screw length to the blade height is probably quite important.
    • Don't the holders have different sizes front & back? I started out with some cheap cast metal ones, but had a lot of trouble with the movements coming loose, so I got a pair of Bergen ones from cousins, a 4039 and a 4040. Those a well made, properly machines and between them they cover from around 10mm up to all the pocket watches I've had so far.
    • Hi Friends, As you might have seen yesterday I'm on to my second restoration and its a Seiko from the 70's (i'm pretty sure) I need to source a new Crystal but I'm struggling to figure out how to identify what type it is. (I did some forum searching but couldnt come up with anything) I'm pretty sure its mineral glass (and that lines up with what I've read online) the outside is flat, there is a pretty good sized bevel around he outside edge, but the inside is surface is concave. It measures 31mm in diameter, and at its thickest (around the edge) its 2.1mm. I was hoping to hop on Esslinger to order up a replacement but that hasn't worked out. I can't find anything of this style.  Any ideas? Thanks so much.
    • I'm having difficulty finding an exact match to the spare case & what movement it originally had? The nearest I can find are the Power Glide, with a 560RSS movement and Borgel case - though that model has a deep case back for the automatic works, while my case has a flush back. https://gruen.watch/?product=gruen-geneve-23-precision-power-glide-560rss https://www.birthyearwatches.com/product/c1959-gruen-power-glide-automatic/ The case shape and crown detail are identical to that, and dimensions match except for depth.   The 560 appears to be the same diameter as the 510 and from the same era, so it does seem possible that it's for a less common 510 version? I just have to find an appropriate dial to suit it.
    • A have this chinese clone DG2813 movement can a eta 2813 mainspring fit in this movement it doesn't tell you what mainspring to you in this movement are very similar ?
