I had to have a little read about him, he did an awful lot more than was recognised at the time. Such as well known brands of today get more recognition,  well known scientists of then could took the glory away from a lowly inventor. Quite unfair, he apparently was a really clever guy in many fields.

Easily my favourite watchmaking book for identifying tools and terms. Calls for the use of potassium cyanide quite a lot too.

Yep!, it also has useful diagrams and pictures, which is a very nice feature.

Just this week I saw a lever driven 8mm lathe headstock for sale and could not work out why you'd use it instead of a fixed headstock and lever drilling tailstock. But this picture explains what I was looking at.
