Rolex W&D Rebberg identification/repair help? Please

Recommended Posts

Hi! I acquired some "scrap gold" which happened to be (I believe) a 1914/15 rolex if I've ID'd it correctly? The movement is a very poorly Rebberg 268 I think too.

But I've not seen a 15 ct early Rolex like this before, and if it is genuine I don't know why I was able to get it at the price I did.

It is in really rough shape, but is anybody able to help me identify it, and guide me on if it is possible to repair (and if that would be worth doing)?

Any guidance would be appreciated, it has been a struggle to get info since I got it in August! 🙂

Yes, front of the movement has 'REBBERG' and '268' written on it.

Yes just found it documented elsewhere. One the two registered rebberg calibres known as Aegler rebbergs. I'm pretty sure i have the other calibre stashed somewhere

Rebberg did indeed make movements for early Rolex watches. As to being repairable, probably but it is in really bad condition. Missing jewels, probably broken balance staff etc.

👍 train bridge looks rough as does the balance pivot bearing.

I can't see the pallet either, is it there?

Overall very rough shape, missing the crown and probably at least part of the stem too.

I think the pallet fork is there. The side I can see I can see the jewel on the fork (but I can't see the other side). Its too tiny to get my phone to focus, need to invest in a microscope!
