I like really small things for some reason!  I am a very experienced fine scale modelmaker (primarily 1:700 scale naval and WWI aircraft if anyone is interested) and have been fascinated by watchmaking for some time.  I have watched many videos on YouTube about watchmaking and finally had the guts to open up a Seiko I had that needed the hands reattached.  I was hooked at that point and have been picking up more of the specialized watchmaking tools and researching.

So, I am a total beginner when it comes to this.  I found a nonworking Elgin size 12 on eBay as a starter project.  Currently waiting on a replacement mainspring and dial screws (just picked up a Wiru tap and die set on eBay as well to fix the dial screw holes--may be a little too advanced for me, but willing to give it a go).  Also working on a Ratek that I had sitting in my closet.

I still need to grasp some of the fundamentals, but used to taking my time and being patient, so hopefully you'll be patient with me as well! 🙂
