Creating new cover plate / detent spring

Recommended Posts

I just got a new old watch in the mail to restore for a friend. Watch runs but is very dirty. Main problem is that the cover plate/ detent spring in the keyless works has broken. Some rust must have done its work to weaken the part.

to get to the point, what would work as a base stock material for this part. And would any special tempering be needed to get the detent to function correctly.

the time setting and winding still works. But I do not want to skip out on necessary repairs for this watch.

hi, it appears to be an ETA 980 [ETERNA 1025] which is an 8 3/4 line movement [ladies size] , you should be able to find a new perfectly fitting part at any supplier, Ebay etc.. A junk movement needs to be seen without a dial if you go that route.....I currently see one on eBay for 5$ plus shipping
