Unitas 6310 Service - Sourcing New Escape Wheel

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I am servicing a Unitas 6310 - which needed a new escape wheel; as the pivot on the original one was broken. Ordered a replacement which appears identical; and fits into the movement just fine. However, I cannot get the pallet fork to engage since it sits higher than the new escape wheel. Can anyone help me source the right replacement?

Thank you in advance!

here's a website where you can look up the parts and cross reference and possibly find out if they have it in stock unfortunately for the second link it looks like it's out of stock.

http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=UT_6310

http://www.julesborel.com/s.nl/it.A/id.74161/.f

then minor little problem escape wheels have different pivots depending upon your plate configuration straight shoulder would be the normal type but if you have a end stone like you have their conical pivots it looks like from the parts list it's either or both of them are conical or both of them are straight. The other thing the image gives you is the number because we go to eBay there are some brand-new ones but you do need to make sure you get the right one for the pivots will be wrong for your watch.

Oh and one other thing seeing as how you're new here I'm going to assume you're new to watch repair. numbers down below referred to in escape wheels you still have to have the model number of the watch to go with that escape wheel so we look at the package it has to have the right model number and the right part number.

Hey John,

Thank you for enlightening me! After closer inspection, my replacement escape wheel does indeed appear to be a 705 with S/S shoulders. This is the one I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125758009666?var=426754943085

Furthermore, when inspecting the end stones, they do seem to have conical ends. Therefore, it seems that your analysis was spot on! You mention that I need to get both the right model number and part number. In this example, I assume that means: 702 (part) and then Unitas 6310 13L. Or does it have to be an exact match with JulesBorel (aka 702/415)? And lastly, do you know of any alternative suppliers, which I could use? Sadly, the part does not seem to be available on Ebay or from any of the alternatives I know of. It seems to be available here: https://www.scotchwatch.com/Unitas_inventory.html (But I do not know them). Thank you once again!
