It's cursed I tell you! Now it's the mainspring...

Either that or I'm more cack-handed than I thought....

After getting the screw out I carried on with the clean and reassemble. The new mainspring arrived today and then...

I ballsed up popping it in. It won#t budge with normal finger pressure.

I've no mainspring winder.

Do you think a little bit more pressure will pop it it or will that damage it and the barrel?

You might get the spring in with brute force. But you will definitely damage the barrel wall. The spring is from hardened steel and sharp edged. The barrel is soft. I‘ve been there…

it looks like it's probably resting on the edge of the barrel where the lid goes. and something is looking quite right in the picture? Now I can't put a finger on it what kind of watches this?

I managed to get it in. Very gently with a pair of parallel pliers nudged it to the left and right and it worked itself in.

It's the one that had the snapped screw in the barrel arbor. the Leonidas GSTP.

The spring looks too long for the barrel.

It's a touch long (80mm) but it's the best match there was (or I could find).
