Recently I've been working on pobeda movement and I've noticed that there is an old type mainspring with broken bridle. I wanted to replace it with alloy spring, but problem is that old bridle is T-shaped. What is a purpose of this type of bridle and will it work if i will insert a spring with a standard bridle? Thank you in advance for any tips and information.

pobeda

pictures are always nice fortunately there's the Internet which gives us this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pobeda_(watch)

in other words are working on a Russian watch strangely enough a mainspring issue just came up on the discussion group somewhere. I'm really give you a link to that may be a fine something useful they are. Then a picture of your mainspring and the watch would be helpful we always like pictures to see what you're working on.

then when you look at the link above you'll see that there's a whole  bunch of different types of ends of mainsprings. So this one is a T brace if it's the same with other discussion. That means if you use a standard spring they'll be nothing to hold onto it and it will slip forever. If it was a T brace and hole end  like Elgin uses possible may be perhaps to the standard spring might catch on the protruding part for the hole perhaps. but you really should get the same type spring that was in their racially.

Okay, I was mistaken. This t-shape bridle was in my other watch. If there is standard bridle can I replace old carbon steel mainspring with alloy one? It has the same thickness and height. Here is the photo of a barrel and old spring. And how can I tell which way i should wind the spring.
