Hi  There are many Seiko Automatics and so a picture of the movement and its caliber number would help members to determine the validity of the stem and crown.  All new stems need fitting and to do that if you have the old one measure the size cut slightly over long and stone the new stem to fit forming a small cone shape. Shaping and cutting are best done with the stem in a pin vice for easier handling.  If you can find/supply the caliber number (under the balance or on the plates and the case back) a parts sheet could be available along with some tech information.         cheers.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

The case number is 7005-8070. I acquired the Crown and Stem from Cousins, after supplying them with those details.

Thanks again 🙂 ~ Mike

Hi Mby71

I think you will find a lot of watch refurbishment videos will show the fitting of a new stem.  It's definiteloy a measure twice, cut once scenario! But as noted above, with the uncut stem and crown screwed on, it's the distance between the crown and the case that needs removing, essentially leaving you with the crown up against the case.  The common advice is to cut about .5mm - 1mm oversize and file or sand it down till perfect.

Here is the man himself fitting one: Jump to the 17:00 minute mark.
