OH, I don't need help. The pinion works fine and so I am happy with the result. This is just my 'shy' way to bragg with what I have done... And to show that it is possible to make such parts with self made tools and devices in domestic conditions -

Maybe so, there looks like a piece of spring under your ratchet wheel. -
Thanks, that's useful to know. Will save some expense. "school in the 1900s" ! I didn't know you were so ancient @nickelsilver 🤣

Even the standard 3 size set doesn't cover everything- really need bigger ones for pocket watches, and sometimes smaller ones when you get a microscopic LeCoultre in 😂😬. But 99% of the time the 3 size set I got in school in the 1900s does it. They don't seem so expensive in that perspective- even the box is still in good shape a quarter century later. -

Feels about right, just choose the right steel , and you can play around with the shape and the arm thickness to suit how stiff it needs to be. Thanks John, Its spring steel John Cs100, i haven't h&t it yet but i will be doing. Marking out is quite straightforward, the black helps to see it. What i did realise is to leave plenty of meat at the end of the arm, you can take material off but you cant put it back on again. I would like to have a go at from scratch without the minute bridge for a template
