I own a Benrus Jungle Master and I just saw a picture of a Waltham Golden Eagle. They appear to made by the same company under different names. They both have a gold medallion on the back like more expensive watches have. I also believe they were only made in the orient, because all videos of them on Youtube are from Vietnam. I got mine at a yardsale for .50 cents. They bring around $500 on Ebay. I read on an antique site that they are not worth over $30. So I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of the history and worth of these watches?  Sorry no pictures right now.

Yes that's the first question everyone's going to ask because more than likely no one is going to recognize the watch by name.

If you go to your favorite search engine and search for your watch other people talked about it before. I'm right now looking at a website were somebody took the back off which would be nice and it says Swiss made. But I did see a reference to the Orient. The problem is basically this is a watch with a name its modern a relatively modern so the Waltham isn't really an American Waltham it's just a name on a watch.

The only thing it really give us a clue about your watch is to take the back off and see what's inside.

Names and watch companies? Google searching online it looks like band versus still in business which I seriously doubt but website you could ask them about your watch but I bet there won't be helpful but he can still try

Notice my excitement with their still in business up above? Because a name on a watch and the history of the watch company doesn't necessarily mean that the current website has anything to do with the past company. We've seen this before for other watch companies. There is even one that the great-grandchildren have taken on the company but there was a huge gap in the family's history of the company where basically it's an entirely new company.

Wikipedia entry is more truthful the company website. The real question is with all the different hands it's gone through whether it's still in the same physical location and conceivably someone might still have company history maybe you could email and ask about your watch.

But more likely if two identical watches look identical with different names there just purchasing of them and having a name put on them.

Thanks for your reply. I meant to say that I believe they were only sold to the Asian market. Five years ago there was no trace of the Jungle Master on the internet. I think the soldiers bought them while in Vietnam. I also believe they are a upgrade of the three star automatic. I know the Waltham says Waltham watch co. on the movement and the Benrus says Benrus watch co. on it. I just thought it was strange they were so similar. And to answer my own question, they can sell for anywhere from .50 cents to over $500. Thanks again, I will keep researching them.
