Hi everyone

Here is an interesting problem for all the ETA fans in our forum.

I had a customer send me a 205.111 in a Tissot PR 100  I have worked on many of these in the past and usually its just a matter of service and replacing the capacitor.  In this particular case the circuit board is not operational and is unavailable through all the suppliers I have contacted.  This movement was found to be problematic by ETA and updated  to the 205.911 which uses a battery rather than a capacitor.   I have been searching for information.  I have read that it is possible to update the 205.111 with parts from a 205.911    please see the difference I was able to find between the two movements below

"ETA 205.111 technical communication document, in electrical test section,[4] states that capacitor voltages will fluctuate from 0 to 2.4V. It also documents that external power supply tests are to be run with 1.55V (measured with the capacitor in place). In ETA 205.911 technical communication document, Interchangeability (List of material) section,[5] it is listed that the major parts that differ from 205.111 caliber are Generator (part no. 20.590.00 for 205.911 and part no. 20.515.00 for 205.111) and accumulator (part no. 20.575.00 for 205.911 and part no. 20.802.00 for 205.111 - capacitor). Demo-version of the ETA ONLINE SHOP[6] list the generator for caliber 205.911 (Article no, 04203.205111 (CS) / 251987) as part no. 20.515.00 (the same part number for caliber 205.111) and it specifically mentions that it is compatible with calibers 1400 B, 205.911 C and 205.911 E"

Unfortunately the 205.911 is only available in gold tone and all the 205.111 movements I have seen are white.  Additionally finding a 205.911 has been impossible so far.

I would prefer to update the movement if possible, parts for the 205.911 appear to be available.

Looks like to me the Circuit board , accumulator, Generator and of course a battery rather than a capacitor  are the parts that need to be replaced.   I also read all the other parts in the movement are the same.

Has anyone had experience updating a 205.111 to a 205.911

Sincerely,

Jim Finn

I wish I could help Jim, but not one I've had dealings with. Fingers crossed someone can offer advice.
