Help With Stripped Balance Jewel Screw

Hi-

 

Working on a Waltham 18S model 1883  s/n 16656774

 

The lower balance jewel setting is secured with 2 small screws. One of them is stripped :(

Looking for some advice on a repair technique. There's not a lot of material left to ream/tap with a larger size screw,

so I'm a bit stumped.

Here's a shot of the underside, where the screws enter - the stripped screw hole is at the top of the image. As you can see

the wall is VERY thin.

I haven't done this but I wonder if using epoxy and re-threading it with the original screw would work? That's if a new part is not available. In any case, maybe some other members have a better suggestion.

Is it at all feasible to rotate the setting slightly, and drill and tap another set of threads?

Interesting - that's a pretty elegant, and simple solution. I will check tonight, but I think that just may work!
