Hi All,

I'm working on a cylinder pocket watch from around the 1880's from a maker called Constantin Mathey if anybody knows of his work. Lovely stuff.

The issue is that the Geneva works is largely missing and the barrel arbour is broken. I've spent some time looking for a mainspring and stopworks and was given a few pieces from a friend that were different sizes but nothing that fits the bill yet.

I've measured the movement and I think it's 15 ligne. My question is this: if I buy a 15 ligne cylinder movement that has Geneva Stop Works, will I be able to just swap them over? Are they (at least roughly) the same size? Not used to pocket watches and certainly not 150 year old cylinder ones.

My other avenue is attempting to make a barrel arbor for the existing barrel and also making the geneva works. I have been reading George Daniels and honestly feel that it is a step or six beyond my current skill set and tool kit but I may be forced down this route.

Thanks all for any and all advice.

I doubt very much it will fit. You will have to find someone who is able to make the set or if you are able make it yourself.
