Oh dear, that poor pinion has been well abused. :( I think a search on the net is required to pick up a donor movement.

Geo, It seems like that's going to be the only thing I can do... Its the only thing wrong with the movement, so I cant wait to get it running!...thanks!

Hi madchops, I see you are in LA, why don't you give ofrei a call? He may have one around...

Bobm12, I am going to look into them today...hoping they can help me with that part. I didn't know they are in CA, thanks!

Having trouble removing the broken pivot in the movement... Its lodged in there and I don't want to ruin the actual hole where the pivot inserts! The hole is so small not even the tiniest of a need tip will fit, but then again I don't want to make the whole bigger. Any suggestions... anyone ever had this problem, maybe I can use and air compressor to blow it out?

Soak it in acetone for a day or two to soften any hard oil, then give it good overdose of ultrasonic cleaning. I've used this method in the past to remove broken pinions from jewels. It has worked for me in the past, but I can't guarantee success.

Geo, I'm going to try that... I hope that I get the same results you did ...thanks!

Excellent, now when the pivot is out and the new part is fitted you'll be very proud! Keep it up! :)

Bobm12, Thanks for the confidence... I've been soaking it in acetone and will leave it till tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll be looking for a donor online. I cant wait!

Were you able to contact ofrei? I know sometimes they are not the most helpful people in the world, depending on how you rub them I guess. In any case, I'm interested on their response.

Bobm12, I haven't been in contact with Ofrei but plan to by the end of the week! I'm hoping that they will be able to help me...I also found a donor movement on eBay but its now a waiting game, hope I can get that too. I'll let you know regarding Ofrei and the outcome as soon as I can.

Finally came around to getting a donor for my Helbros Invincible "Lorsa P72" movement off ebay for $5 free shipping. The donor is a P75 movement and I went straight to work, cleaning and lubricating all the pivots and jewels. Bobm12, you are right I do feel proud of the accomplishment...best feeling ever! Thanks guys for all the encouragement you have given me. Geo, your acetone method worked like a charm....thanks! 2nd project complete.
