Hi All.

I am having trouble syncing and setting up a Patreon account so that I have access to Level 4 courses. My email that is registered is correct but not recognised.

Any ideas?

I am trying to obtain an Omega 8508 movement service sheet. Does anyone know where I can get one from? I intend to give it a full service.
      Any help appreciated.

I recently bid for a second hand Platax tool. It looked quite worn so thought I'd get it a reasonable price. Oh no it went for 650 Euros, well out of my price range and I think for that price it would have to be new. Evidently I will never get my hands on a Platax Tool and the price will only increase as they become rarer.
Bergeon no longer supply this tool what is a reasonable alternative  to enable the replacing of balance staffs? and is  there a video of the alternative?
      Help please. Thanks

    • Thank you guys  Little bit apprehensive, as I have only ever fully dismantled and rebuilt a pocket watch movement, but I do want to try.  much appreciated as always.
    • It’s funny how people manage when working with watch movements or anything tiny. I wear glasses all the time. When I was working on watches I would take my glasses off and use an eye glass, I couldn't stand one of those flip down eye glass that fix to your frames it was like looking through bifocals.
    • This is also often asked. It's common for ball bearings to be a bit lose or noisy, especially after decades of use without any lubrication. The screw has not effect whatsoever as it's there to just keep it in place. As long the weight doesn't touch anywhere, and the watch winds, all is good.
    • jdm has saved me from writing up. Just to say that hairspring is in a right old mess.
    • First, the hairsping in the picture is unacceptably distorted, many topics on the subject of correcting an HS and the difficulty of the task - high. If you want to show how an HS looks like, remove cock, lay it down and shoot from above. Then, fault finding consist of taking the entire mov't apart, clean it the best possible, inspect every part under magnification, pivots, jewel, gear teeth for damage. Put it back in the most basic form and test every function, end shake of every wheel  etc. You can do that even without oiling because it will run anyway, not perfectly but it must not stop. Again, the forum has many many repetitive threads, which will tell you always the same things, just as any book would.
