Hello, IJdod here from the Netherlands. I've always been technically inclined, but only recently did I start taking apart watches with the intention of putting them back together again. So far I've been fairly succesful, in the sense that no parts were left after reassembly, and no functionality was lost (i.e. the movement was still broken). My goal is to be able to service my own watches, mainly because it's A. fun to do and B. servicing by a pro costs more than they're worth.

Hi ijdod, keep practicing and you will do well. Watch Marks video`s on you tube. A lot of people cannot afford a pro to do the work. I have serviced a ladies Zenith yesterday and a Gents vintage Smiths today. I charged a very reasonable sum and the lady and Gentleman were well pleased. It was just a proper service to them and rate on the timegrapher.  You are correct in that the cost of a pro service is more than many watches are worth and therefore high cost cannot be justified. Welcome and regards, Mike.
