Dear All,

This christmas I designed a watch for my wife. It was all based on an ETA 2824-2 movement. The watch has been working perfectly until a couple of days ago, when my wife noticed that it was telling the wrong time and kept having to re-adjust it. I decided to wear it for a day and the problem was very mysterious (to me at least and not to you I hope).

the minute hand is always correct, but the hour hand tends to jump several hours ahead, for no apparent reason. The hand is not loose, which was my first thought, is not catching on anything, my second thought. Quite frankly I am out of third thoughts.

Any ideas would be very gratefully appreciated. I spent a lot of money and time on this watch.

Many thanks

Nick

Is there a dial washer fitted ? Could it be the hour pinion wheel is rising up losing contact and falling forwards or backwards for that matter

It's possessed.  Go to the local Catholic church and sprinkle Holy Water on it.  Then repeat three times... "The power of Christ compels you!"

Nah...just joking.   ^_^

Feels like that. Might try It.
