I had opened one (not on picture) and didnt expect mineral glass, so the glass shattered. I ground off the lip and replaced the glass with plexi. I can open these watches if im very careful, and grind the snapon lip off a little, so next time its easy. The manual states that one cant replace the battery by diy, so you have to bring it to the store. I guess they break the glass there and replace the complete back cover. My second guess is that it is done in glass so the watch can receive the signal better, but there are ones with steel back also. My third guess is they made it that way so the user throws the watch away instead of paying high price, so planned obsolescence, you could realize glass back with easy to open lock. The condor is easy to open, the other watch is marquis, and the one i broke is also marquis, its a really slim metalring with a thick lip witch fits into the groove in the housing, you have to use strong force and bend it in order to remove, glass will break.  Sucks. Do you know how those watches are intended to be handled? Perhaps a tool which goes comletely around the metalring and compresses it, releasing on the glass and compressing the lip, i dont know, i think its not likely.
